Easy {Super Soft} Tortillas

Making tortillas is something we do on a weekly basis in our home. Tortillas can be used in so many different ways. Some ways we use the tortillas are:
  • Quessadillas (of course)
  • Cut into strips or squares and placed in chicken casseroles
  • Enchiladas
  • Topped with butter and garlic salt and broiled for a few minutes
  • Topped with butter and eaten as a snack
  • Topped with spaghetti sauce, cheese and pepperoni and baked @ 350° for 5 minutes for quick pizzas
  • Cut into triangles and fried in coconut oil then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar for a fast and fun dessert
  • Cut into slices and smeared with butter or oil and top with seasonings such as garlic salt then bake or broil until crisp for some easy, delicious chips.
We make our tortillas using the "soaked" method. This is where I allow my dough to sit in its wet state for 12+ hours to allow the phytic acid to be broken down which makes it a more easily digestible food than it otherwise would have been.

The soaking method isn't necessary (I sometimes skip that step when we're in quick need of some tortillas).

Enough blabbing. Here's my video showing you how easy it is to make your very own tortillas. You can find a printable recipe below the video.

Enjoy!
