Some of the nutrients almonds contain are:
manganese and copper - which help to disarm free radicals produced in the mitochondria
riboflavin (aka vitamin B2) - which plays a role in energy production
vitamin E - an antioxidant that is also known to lower cholesterol levels
magnesium - improves blood flow, oxygen and nutrients throughout the body
potassium - important electrolyte for nerve and heart health
protein - almonds contain more protein than an egg!
calcium - (1 oz. of almonds contains as much calcium as 1/4 cup of milk!)
zinc - boosts immune function, helps with wound healing, blood clotting, thryoid function, & more.
Almonds have been proven to help with energy production, prevention of diabetes and heart disease, weight loss.
And it's now believed that almonds have a prebiotic effect, helping the good bacteria in our gut to flourish therefore helping to keep our digestive systems strong and healthy. Which is super important seeing as how our digestive system makes up 70 - 80% of our immune system.
