For those of you who like written recipes - I've written the following just for you:
Healthy Snow Cones
What you'll need:5 cups ice
Fruits of your choice
Sweetener of choice. (Healthier options such as xylitol, liquid stevia, dextrose or rapadura.)
High powered blender
Funnel
Ketchup bottles (or any cup) to hold "syrups"
Measuring cup to transfer crushed ice into cups
Some Healthy Syrup Options:
Coconut Water: Purchase coconut water from store or use coconut water from real coconut.
Watermelon: Juice 1/2 of a watermelon.
Oranges, limes, lemons, grapefruit: Juice by either cutting in half and squeezing by hand or use a hand juicer.
Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, & other berries: Buy frozen (or freeze fresh ones). Allow to thaw. Juice using a juicer. Add some water to create desired consistency.
Grapes, Pineapple, Apple, Pear: Just juice!
Peaches: You can juice fresh peaches or choose to freeze them, thaw, then juice for more juice.
* After preparing your syrups, stir in a sweetener of your choice- adding as much or as little of the sweetener as you like.
Steps:
1. Prepare syrups.
2. Blend up ice.
3. Transfer ice into cups. Pack down for best effect.
4. Pour syrups on top and eat with a spoon.
You can try re-creating some of your favorite flavors such as:
Tiger's Blood: watermelon, strawberries and a bit of coconut.
Dreamsycle: orange with vanilla flavored liquid stevia.
Pina Colada: pineapple and coconut water
Lemon-Lime: mix together lemon and lime juice
Peach Mango: use peach and mango juices
Extra Tip:
Use canned coconut milk (like the Thai brand) for creamy snow cones. Just make sure to shake the can before opening and using it.
